Gastric Bypass in Turkey (Roux-en-Y)
Performed by specialist bariatric surgeons in a JCI-accredited hospital, under the medical direction of Prof. Dr. Nurullah Ermiş. Often the preferred option where type 2 diabetes or severe reflux is involved.
What is a gastric bypass?
In a gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y), the surgeon creates a small stomach pouch and connects it directly to a lower section of the small intestine. Food then bypasses most of the stomach and the first part of the intestine. Because it changes gut hormones as well as stomach capacity, a bypass is often the operation of choice where type 2 diabetes or severe acid reflux is part of the picture. It is performed laparoscopically.

Are you a candidate?
A gastric bypass is generally considered at a BMI of 35 or above, or from 30 where there are related conditions — and it is often favoured over a sleeve where type 2 diabetes or significant acid reflux is present. The final decision always rests with the surgeon, after your pre-operative tests. Send us your height, weight and medical history and we will tell you free of charge which operation is likely to suit you better.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a gastric bypass cost in Turkey?+
The SlimFit Turkey all-inclusive package starts from €2,400 and covers the surgery, your stay in a JCI-accredited hospital, hotel, transfers, pre-operative tests and 12 months of follow-up. Ask us and you will receive a free personalised quote.
Is a bypass better than a sleeve?+
Neither is simply better. Both lead to an average loss of around 40% of excess weight. A bypass is often preferred where type 2 diabetes or severe acid reflux is present, because it tends to improve those conditions more directly. A sleeve is a simpler operation with no rerouting of the intestine. Your surgeon recommends one or the other based on your history and tests.
How much weight will I lose with a gastric bypass?+
On average, patients lose around 40% of their excess weight. Results depend on your lifestyle and on sticking with the follow-up, which is why our team supports you for 12 months.
How many days do I need to stay in Turkey?+
Usually around 3 to 5 days in Turkey, with all transfers included. An English-speaking coordinator is with you throughout your stay.
Will I need vitamin supplements afterwards?+
Yes. Because a bypass reduces how much your body absorbs, lifelong vitamin and mineral supplementation is part of the treatment, along with regular blood tests. Your plan and monitoring schedule are set out during your 12-month follow-up.
What does the all-inclusive package cover?+
Surgery by specialist bariatric surgeons, your stay in a JCI-accredited hospital, a 4★ hotel, airport–hospital–hotel transfers, complete pre-operative tests and 12 months of follow-up.
