Otoplasty suits anyone from around the age of six, once the ears have reached close to adult size, through to adulthood. Good general health is the main requirement. If only one ear is prominent the operation is still usually planned on both, because symmetry is judged as a pair. The final assessment is made by your surgeon after examination.

Will I need to wear a headband afterwards?+
Yes. A supportive dressing is worn constantly for the first week, then usually at night for several more weeks. It protects the new cartilage position while it settles, and skipping it is the most common reason a result partially relapses.
Can otoplasty be done on children?+
Yes, generally from around the age of six, when the ear has reached close to its adult size. Many families choose to have it done before the teenage years. The decision is made together with the surgeon and, of course, the child.
