UK figures are indicative private-sector ranges in pounds and vary widely by clinic and city; our packages are priced in euros, and exchange rates move. Compare the order of magnitude rather than treating the gap as exact — and always ask both providers for an itemised quote.
What our price includes
The figure in the third column is not the surgery alone. It covers the operation, your stay in a JCI-accredited hospital, a 4★ hotel for recovery, all airport–hospital–hotel transfers, complete pre-operative tests and blood work, and follow-up — 12 months of it for bariatric patients — with a dedicated English-speaking coordinator throughout. A UK private quote typically covers the surgery, the hospital stay and your post-operative appointments; hotel and transfers do not arise, because you are at home.
What it does not include
Flights. Budget for them on top — most patients book their own, and for a European departure they are a small fraction of the difference. Time off work, which you would need either way, though travel adds a few days. And the practical reality that if a complication arises months later, you are not a short drive from the surgeon who operated — which is precisely why follow-up arrangements and a named surgeon matter more than the headline price.
Where the NHS fits in
For bariatric surgery specifically, the NHS route exists and costs you nothing. Eligibility typically requires a higher BMI threshold than private criteria along with evidence of supervised weight-management attempts, and there is a waiting list. If you meet the criteria and can wait, that is a genuinely good option and we will say so. Patients generally come to us because they fall outside the criteria or are not prepared to wait. Cosmetic surgery is another matter — it is generally not available on the NHS at all.
Why the gap exists
Lower staff, facility and overhead costs, a favourable exchange rate, and high procedure volume that spreads fixed costs across more operations. None of that touches what happens in theatre: the accreditation, the surgeon’s qualifications and the intensive care unit on site are either there or they are not, and those are the things to verify. Our guide to whether surgery in Turkey is safe sets out how to check.

Frequently asked questions
Why is surgery so much cheaper in Turkey?+
Lower staff, facility and overhead costs, a favourable exchange rate, and high procedure volume spreading fixed costs. The saving comes from the cost base, not from the operation — ours is performed in a JCI-accredited hospital by specialist surgeons.
Are flights included in the price?+
No. Our packages include the surgery, hospital, hotel, transfers, pre-operative tests and follow-up, but not flights — patients prefer to book their own. Budget for flights on top when comparing against a UK quote.
Can I get bariatric surgery on the NHS instead?+
Yes, bariatric surgery is available on the NHS, with eligibility criteria that typically include a higher BMI threshold and evidence of supervised weight-management attempts, followed by a waiting list. If you qualify and can wait, that route costs you nothing. Most patients who come to us either do not meet the criteria or are not prepared to wait. Cosmetic surgery is generally not available on the NHS.
Is the cheapest quote the best one?+
No. Between credible providers the differences are modest, and a quote well below the others usually means something has been excluded — the hospital, the anaesthetist, the tests or the follow-up. Ask for an itemised quote and compare like with like.
What happens if a complication needs treating after I get home?+
Ask any provider this before you pay, and get it in writing. With us you have 12 months of follow-up contact with the team, and your coordinator remains your point of contact. Treatment required from your own health service would be handled there, which is a reason not to choose a provider on price alone.
